Venue: Faculty of Life Sciences (KU-LIFE), University of Copenhagen, Grønnegårdsvej 7, 1. floor, the Library - 1870 Frederiksberg
ICoMST participants are invited to take part in a workshop concerning on-line classification of pig carcasses. The workshop will take place at the Faculty of Life Sciences, University of Copenhagen in the afternoon of Tuesday 18 August in the same place as the Barbecue night will take place in the evening.
Recently, EU regulations concerning classification of beef, pig and sheep carcasses have been revised. Now, the regulations open up for instrumental references like Computed Tomography when calibrating on-line instruments for pig carcasses classification.
This year, on-line instruments in use in Denmark have been calibrated. The reference method was a combination of Computed Tomography and dissection. At the workshop, researchers from Danish Meat Research Institute will provide information about the results and if possible, open a discussion about comparing results obtained with different reference methods.
Research using Computed Tomography within this area is performed in Spain, Germany, France, Hungary, Ireland, and UK and possibly other countries as well.
ICoMST participants are invited to present their work using reference methods as alternatives to dissection. ICoMST participants are also invited to present their work with other aspects of on-line classification of pig carcasses like new estimation methods and solutions to other statistical problems within this area.
The workshop will be organised very informal. However, preliminary expressions of interest for taking part in the workshop is very welcome as well as possible contributions or proposed problems to be discussed at the workshop. Please address these to Eli Vibeke Olsen: evo@danishmeat.dk before ICoMST 2009.
